Vika! Vika!

If you have spoken to me IRL in the past month (LUCKY YOU), I have probably told you about this:

This is one of Tommy Ton’s transcendental Paris couture/menswear photos from earlier this summer and I’ve been living and breathing for it. I’m absolutely positive this is what beautiful aliens wear to play tennis on Saturn, and Vika Gazinskaya, being the miraculous and generous creature she is, has brought this look to us from outer space.

Ms. Gazinskaya was profiled earlier this summer in a breathless story for the Times that recalled the profiles at which Gay Talese rolled his eyes in the marvelous VOGUEland, and she is no stranger to the Nike cap paired with maddeningly chic ensembles. Said designs are usually of her own making, which does it even more for me. See below, but be sure to have smelling salts nearby to revive you after you faint from pure freaking ecstasy:

There she is via Vanessa Jackman in an infuriatingly cool leaf-print suit—and suits! I ache for suits, always—of her own design, topped with a freaking Nike cap. (I can’t get started on the Led Zeppelin tshirt; it will be the end of me.)

Anyways! I took a page from old Vika’s miraculous playbook and tried this look on for size:

I added Nike Dunks—Champagne Air Scandals; not poetry or some F. Scott Fitzgerald ideation, that’s the real freaking name of these sneakers, natch. And the dress is Carven, not Vika’s, though its sculptural sensibility speaks adequately to her silhouettes, I think. Also, this hat is different from a Nike cap in that there a giant plastic cow head on it. As long as we’re speaking, just wanted to make that clear.

But anyways, expect to see me wearing this all day and everyday at any NYFW parties. Particularly ones I’m crashing, because nothing says “DO YOU THINK I WASN’T INVITED?” like a trucker hat with a giant plastic cow head on it.

Ms. Pizza Rulez: A New Kind of Moo Moo. ‘Cow’-tow to me, fashion ponies.

‘Til l8r.

PS. If you’re terribly fond of Vika’s designs, I do believe you can get them at Fivestory NY. I do believe you can! And if you can’t make it there, you absolutely must follow their Tumblr, regardless.
